The upcoming trial of former Texas billionaire and financier Allen Stanford has been delayed.
The trial was due to begin on January 24, but a Federal judge ruled yesterday that the financier is not mentally competent to go forward with his case.
US District Judge David Hittner agreed to delay the trial until Stanford can be treated for several medical problems.
The financier is accused of defrauding investors out of $7 billion in a Ponzi scheme linked to his offshore bank in Antigua.
