Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen has survived a no confidence vote on his leadership.
The exact result of the vote is unknown but, to win, Cowen needed to secure at least 36 of the 71 votes.
On Sunday, foreign minister Michael Martin challenged the prime minister, months after Ireland accepted an 85 billion Euro bailout.
Cowen told Irish media that he had accepted Martin’s resignation shortly after the ballot.
