The death toll from Haiti's cholera epidemic has passed the 4,000 mark.

The health ministry says 4,030 people have died from the disease.

The epidemic that has raged across the country is claiming fewer victims, with a sharp drop in new cases everywhere.

However, Haitian and international health officials are now investigating a cluster of cases of paralysis in recovering cholera patients in northwestern Haiti.

Reports say several people in the area have died suddenly.
