Haitians protest over Preval stay

Police in Haiti have dispersed demonstrators protesting the decision to extend the term of the outgoing president, Rene Preval.

His term was due to end yesterday, but with the second round of the presidential election delayed until the end of March, Preval says he'll be staying in office for an additional three months.

In the meantime, reports say a former president, Jean-Bertrand Aristide, has been given a passport, paving the way for his possible return from exile.
