Grenada visa application warning

Grenadians are being urged to be careful when using the Internet to secure visas after a number of persons reported losing a significant amount of money due to an internet visa scam.

An official at the US embassy in Grenada says the agency has received a lot of calls and enquiries from persons about such scams.

An embassy statement warned of increased reports of fraudulent emails, websites, and print advertisements offering visa services.

It says that persons are also being asked to send money via Western Union to a fictitious person at the US Embassy in London.

The embassy says while many private websites offer legitimate services to assist individuals in applying for visas, there are some illegitimate entities that claim to provide visa services as a cover for scams or identity theft.
