Eastern Championships set for March 7 and 8
The organisers of next week’s Eastern Secondary Schools’ Association/Jamaica National Track and Field Championships has decided to stage the two-day meet at the Usain Bolt Stadium at the University of the West Indies.
The decision was taken shortly after organisers had confirmed Stadium East as the venue during today’s launch at Altamont Court Hotel in Kingston. The organisers were also hoping to stage the final day of the March 7 to 8 meet at the National Stadium.
More than 20 high schools from Eastern Jamaica are set to renew their rivalry at the meet.
The championship is being sponsored by Jamaica National for the 25th consecutive year.
The championship will showcase the talent of several rising track and field stars from schools in the parishes of St Thomas, Portland, St Mary and sections of St Andrew.
Buff Bay High School from Portland are the defending champions. The meet will start each morning at 8.30.
