Romelda Aikens leads Firebirds to victory

Romelda Aiken recovered from a slow start to help the Queensland Firebird to a 51-36 victory over the Southern Steel in the ANZ Championship at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre in Australia yesterday.
The Jamaican international finished with 30 goals from 36 attempts, but the Firebirds lacked their usual fast-paced tempo and laid the winning platform with a sterling defensive effort.
It was the fourth straight win for the Firebirds, while Steel were left empty-handed after hoping to secure their first win on Australian soil.
Steel fashioned two competitive quarters but could not maintain the momentum for the whole match as they slumped to a third loss from four outings.
