Observers deployed to Haiti

The Joint Electoral Observation Mission of the Organisation of American States (OAS), and CARICOM has deployed 50 electoral observers in Haiti’s eleven electoral departments.



The OAS says in addition to monitoring the election campaign and the various stages of the electoral process, the mission will be meeting with election stakeholders.



It says the observers are paying particular attention to the actions taken by the Provisional Electoral Council to implement the measures it has adopted.



The mission says it also welcomes the measures taken by the Electoral Council to improve the organisation and to increase the credibility of the electoral process.
