Top Jamaican TT players in action
Jamaica’s top junior players will be in action today when the main draw of the International Tennis Federation’s Jamaica Junior Tournament serves off at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre.
In the Boys’ Under 18 category, Brandon Burke will lead the Jamaican charge. Joining Burke in the main draw will be Macoy Malcolm, Davian Burrell and Javiar Mullings.
Simone Vranov Brown will lead the charge in the Girls’ 18 category along with her younger sister, Lauren.
Joining the Brown sisters in the main draw will be Shantal Blackwood, Monique Hanson and Sicquena Sinclair.
In the qualifying games yesterday, Chile’s Crescente Lesser defeated Yuta Hirokaya of Japan 7-6, 6-1, Russian Daneaiil Sirota turned back Vaugh Wilson of Trinidad and Tobago 6-2, 6-2 and Barbadian Seanon Williams beat Ondre Cargill of the Bahamas 6-3, 7-5.
In the other game, American Garick Yedigarian got by Ibian Hodgson of Aruba 6-2, 6-1.
The tournament runs until Saturday.
