Jamaica receive six medals
Jamaica finished the 12th IAAF World Junior Championships in Poland with sixth medals after Keiron Stewart won a bronze on yesterday’s final day.
Stewart delivered a fighting performance to grab the bronze in the men’s 110-metre hurdles in 13.51.
Russian Konstantin Shabanov took gold in a junior world leading 13.27 seconds ahead of American Brooker Nunley 13.45.
With one gold, four silver and one bronze, the Jamaicans placed ninth in the final medal table.
The medal table was topped by the USA with 11 gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
Germany ended second with six gold, one silver and three bronze, followed by Kenya in third place with four gold, five silver and two bronze,
Jamaica placed fourth in their other final appearance yesterday, with the men’s 4 by 400-metre relay team clocking three minutes 8.58 seconds, behind champions USA, which clocked a junior world leading three minutes 03.86.
