Intercollegiate meet begins today

The two-day Victoria Mutual Building Society Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships gets underway today at the UWI Usain Bolt Stadium with University of Technology, the reigning male and female champions, highly fancied to defend their titles.
Action starts at 1 p.m. with the heats of the women’s 800 metres and the women’s shot put final.
Ten other finals are down to be contested today including the men’s and women’s 100 metres, women’s 3000 metres and the men’s and women’s 400 metres hurdles.
Some 440 athletes from over 14 institutions will be on show, with several national senior representatives down to participate.
