Good second place finish for Veronica

Jamaican sprinter Veronica Campbell-Brown produced an impressive 52 point 2-5 seconds in a rare 400-metre appearance today for second place at the University of Central Florida Invitational.



The two-time Olympic 200-metre champion went out fast and took early control of the race, but faded in the closing metres to hand American Mary Wineberg the victory. Wineberg won in 52 seconds flat.



Nickiesha Anderson was third in 53 point 9-3 and her Jamaican teammate Sherly Morgan finished sixth in 55 point 0-1.



Meanwhile, national record holder Dwight Thomas opened his 2011 season with a second place finish in the men’s 110-metre hurdles at today’s University of Central Florida Invitational. Thomas clocked 13 point 4-7, behind Joel Brown, who won in 13 point 4-3.
