Windward beat Jamaica
Jamaica’s chances of winning the 2008 TCL Group West Indies Under-19 tournament suffered another setback after losing to the Windward Islands on yesterday’s final day of their third-round match at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
The Windward Islands won the match by five wickets before tea. It was the second straight defeat for the Jamaicans.
Set 126 to win, the Windward Islands achieved victory at 127 for five after resuming yesterday on 41 without loss.
Final scores are, Jamaica 174 and 59, Windward Islands 108 and 127 for five.
Following the victory, the Windward Islands have moved to third place in the points’ table on 16 points, behind leaders Guyana 28 and second place Barbados on 22.
In fourth position is the Leeward Islands followed by Jamaica on 14 and Trinidad and Tobago on 12.
At the Cable and Wireless Sports Club, front-runners Guyana and hosts Barbados were forced to settle for a no-decision after rain restricted play to only 20 minutes.
In the other match, Trinidad and Tobago and the Leeward Islands played to a draw in another rain-affected game at the Carlton Sports Club.
