Japan dumps radioactive water into Pacific

Japan began dumping thousands of tons of radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean.

The move is aimed at helping emergency officials to curtail a worse leak from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

Officials say a total of about 11,500 tons of radioactive water that have collected at the nuclear facility, will be dumped into the sea.

This is the latest challenge facing workers at the power plant and its six reactors, which have been in constant crisis since last month's ruinous earthquake and tsunami.
