Jamaica beat Barbados

Host country Jamaica got off to a winning start in the Water Polo competition last night at the 17th Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships at the National Stadium Pool in Kingston.



The Jamaicans defeated Barbados 15-5 in the male 18 and over section.



In other games, Trinidad and Tobago defeated Puerto Rico 5-1 in a male 17 and under game.



Three Jamaican teams will be in action this afternoon.



Puerto Rico and Jamaica will face off in a female 15 and under game, while Jamaica will take on Dominica in the male 17and under.



Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago will clash in a male 15 and under match beginning at 3.45 p.m.



Beijing Olympic qualifier Alia Atkinson will be in action on today’s opening day of the swimming competition.
