Usain and Powell face off
World record holder Usain Bolt and countryman Asafa Powell will face off over 100 metres today at the Stockholm DN Galan Grand Prix Track and Field Meet in Sweden.
Despite the absence of the world 100 metre champion, Tyson Gay, the event is expected to be a cracker.
It will be the second meeting between the Jamaicans over the 100 metre trip. Bolt lowered the colours of Powell at the Jamaica National Championships a few weeks ago.
Last year, Powell won the 100 at the meet in 10.04. In 2006, he set the stadium record of 9.86.
Bolt says he will go after the stadium record.
The field also includes three other athletes who have gone under 10 seconds this season. They are the americans Travis Padgett, Darvis Patton and Rodney Martin.
Also expected to compete are Jamaican Michael Frater, Derrick Atkins of The Bahamas, Kim Collins of St Kitts and Portugal’s Frances Obikwelu.
