Hermoso Amiso to win Lotto Classic

The lightly raced Hermosa Amiso is highly fancied to win the 71st running of the Lotto Classic at Caymanas Park today.
The race confined to native-bred three-year-olds over two thousand metres is regarded as the final prep for the Jamaica Derby, which will take place on June 11.
Notable absentees from the $3.5 million-$5 million-dollar race are the winners of the three classics run so far: BIG MAN BOYU who romped the Two Thousand Guineas; NIPHAL, who captured the One Thousand Guineas, and CARIDAD, who won the recent Bigga Oaks over today’s trip.
Despite their absence, the race should prove a strong pointer to the Derby. In addition to HERMOSO AMIGO, the field of 14 includes the Two Thousand Guineas runner-up JUSTIN ON FIRE, as well as third-place ERASMO and the fourth-place JET SETTER.
