One month after the St. Kitts and Nevis government passed legislation banning under age children from entering night clubs, the Denzil Douglas administration is introducing new measures to ban the sale of alcohol to them.
Prime Minister Douglas is to introduce an amendment to the country’s Liquor Licence Act making it an offence to sell alcohol to persons under the age of 18 years.
It proposes the imposition of a fine not exceeding five thousand EC dollars for a first offence and a five thousand EC dollar fine and the revocation of the licence issued for a subsequent offense.
The government said the moves are also aimed at dealing with the increasing criminal activities among young people in the Federation.
