Bolt, Campbell-Brown to compete in Ostrava meet

The world’s fastest man Usain Bolt will be attempting to improve on his season opener of 9.91 seconds when he competes in the men’s 100 metres at the 50th edition of the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava, Czech Republic today.
Bolt, the 100 and 200-metre world record holder, looked rusty when sneaking past countryman Asafa Powell to win the 100-metre at the Diamond League meeting in Rome last week, his first race since losing to American Tyson Gay nine months ago.
For today race, Bolt will line up alongside two other Jamaicans, Lerone Clarke and Steve Mullings, the world leader with 9.89. The race also includes Daniel Bailey of Antigua and Kim Collins of St Kitts and the Nevis.
The race is scheduled to start at 1.20 p.m. Jamaica time.
Jamaica's Veronica Campbell-Brown, the reigning double Olympic 200-metre champion, tops the women's 100 metre list, pledging to cover the distance under 11 seconds.
She is facing competition from Bahamas' Debbie Ferguson and US sprinter Lashauntea Moore at 12.50.
Jamaica will be represented by fast-rising star Yohan Blake, Marvin Anderson and Mario Forsythe in the men’s 200 metres at 11.50 a.m., while national record holder Jermaine Gonzales and Edino Steele are down to contest the men’s 400-metres at 12.05 p.m.
The other Jamaicans down to run are national record holder Dwight Thomas in the men’s 110-metre hurdles at 12.30 p.m.and Joseph Robertson in the men’s 400-metre hurdles at 11.40 a.m.
