Obama honours Caribbean American heritage

United States President Barack Obama has issued a proclamation on the sixth anniversary of the celebration of Caribbean-American Heritage Month in June.



Obama said the United States celebrates the rich history and vibrant culture that Caribbean Americans have brought to its shores.



He also said the US recognises the importance of friendship between the United States and Caribbean.



According to Obama, expanding US Caribbean partnership will promote economic development, democratic governance, citizen security, and improved health and education.



Prime Minister Bruce Golding is currently on a four day official visit to the United States.
