Barbados MPs support REDjet
Barbadian Members of Parliament have come out in support of low cost airline REDjet.
Yesterday members from both sides of the House highlighted REDjet’s benefits to the region emphasising the importance of other players in the aviation industry.
After weeks of trying, REDjet has only been able to secure a regular scheduled service from Barbados to Guyana.
Tourism minister Richard Sealy asserted that the government fully supports the carrier in its efforts to become operational and ensure that it becomes a reality.
The opposition party, had earlier criticised the Freundel Stewart led government for its silence on the challenges faced by airline in trying to fly to Jamaica and Trinidad.
Meanwhile, REDjet is has laid off eight members of its cabin crew.
This is expected to be temporary until permission to fly to Trinidad and Jamaica is granted.
