Big Man Boy U for Derby

The second leg of the lucrative Triple Crown Series – the Cal’s Jamaica Derby over 2400 metres -- will take place at Caymanas Park today. Post time for the race is 5:20 p.m.
The Derby, which offers a whopping purse of $9 million dollars, has attracted a large field of 16 including Two Thousand Guineas hero BIG MAN BOY U, the ante-post favourite.
BIG MAN BOY U is down to be ridden for the first time by Trinidadian big-race jockey Nobel Abrego, who flew in specifically for the ride. The highly fancied ERASMO to be ridden by champion jockey Omar Walker is expected to be the main danger to BIG MAN BOY U.
Other top horses declared for the event are Governor’s Cup runner-up COLD GROUND with jockey Dane Nelson, as well as the filly RIGHT MARKER to be ridden by Paul Francis and Jamaica Oaks winner CARIDAD with jocky Allen Maragh.
