Technomoto upsets Derby field

TECHNOMOTO, ridden by Panamanian jockey Dick Cardenas, stunned punters at Caymanas Park today by scoring an emphatic victory in the 91st running of the Jamaica Derby, the second leg of the Triple Crown Series.



The Anthony Nunes-trained three-year-old colt won the Cal-sponsored 2400 metres event by 10 lengths to give the jockey his second straight Jamaica Derby success.



He won at the attractive odds of 32-to-1 over Wayne DaCosta-trained JET SETTER, a 50-to-1 outsider with jockey Shane Ellis. The Derby favourite BIG MAN BOY U was third with Trinidadian big-race jockey Nobel Abrego, while ERASMO, with champion jockey Omar Walker, was fourth.
