Mullings beat Gay in photo finish

Jamaican sprinter Steve Mullings continued his good form today by beating American Tyson Gay, the current world leader, in a photo finish in the men’s 100 metres at the Diamond League meeting in New York.



Both sprinters crossed the finish line in 10.26 seconds after three false starts and wet condition, but the Jamaican, who was quickly out of the blocks, got the verdict.



Nickel Ashmeade, the other Jamaican in the line-up, was fourth in 10.36.



There was another victory for Jamaica at the meet as Kenia Sinclair scored a shock win in the women’s 1500 metres in 4:08.06 seconds.



Jamaica’s national record holder Jermaine Gonzales was second in the men’s 400 metres. He clocked 45.16 to finish behind American Winner Jeremy Wariner, who clocked 45.13.



And Sheree Francis, another Jamaican national record holder, finished third in the women’s high jump by clearing 1. 82 metres. Emma Tregaro of Sweden produced a season-best 1.94 metres for the victory.



Meanwhile, Shelly-Ann Frazer Pryce of Jamaica, clocked 23.52 seconds to finish seventh and last in the women’s 200 metres, which was won by American Allyson Felix in 22.92.
