Argentina beat Jamaica

Jamaica are on the brink of elimination from the 2011 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Mexico following a 2-1 loss to Argentina in Monterrey last night.



Goals from Jonathan Silva in the 23rd minute and Lucas Pugh in the 63rd ensured that Jamaica stayed pointless after two Group ‘B’ games.



However, it was a historic night for Jamaica as a wonderful volley in the 89th minute from Zhelano Barnes ensured the young Reggae Boyz scored their first-ever goal at that level.



France and Japan are locked top of the table on four points each after battling to a 1-1 draw in the opening match, while Argentina hold down third spot with four points.



Jamaica will now have to win their final group match on Friday against France to have any chance for a place in the Round of 16.



Meanwhile over in Group ‘A’, hosts Mexico just managed to edge out nine-man Congo 2-1 in Morelia to become the first team to book their place in the Round of Sixteen.



In the other Group ‘A’ game, Korea and the Netherlands battled to a 1-1 draw.



Another four games are scheduled for today. Over in Pachuca, Uruguay and Rwanda will face off at 3 p.m. followed by Canada against England at 6 p.m.



In Torreon, USA will tackle Uzbekistan at 3 p.m., and Czech Republic will play New Zealand at 6 p.m.
