Thomas attempts to lower national record

Sprint hurdler Dwight Thomas will attempt to lower his national record when he competes at the Samsung Diamond League in Lausanne, Switzerland on Thursday.



Thomas lowered his previous national record of 13.16 seconds to 13.15 at the Oslo Diamond League meeting earlier this month.



He said the record should go at Lausanne because the track is very fast.



Thomas is one of eight Jamaicans who competed at the just concluded four day National Trials, listed on the provisional entry list for the meet in Lausanne.



Thomas was beaten by Andrew Riley in the 110-metre hurdles final yesterday, but said he should be very fresh for Lausanne.



Riley won in 13.36, while Thomas recorded 13.38.



The other Jamaicans listed to compete are Delloreen Ennis London and Brigitte Foster-Hylton in the women’s 100 metre hurdles, Kaliese Spencer, Shericka Williams and Novlene Williams-Mills in the women’s 400 metre.



Nesta Carter and Asafa Powell are down to run the men’s 100 metres.



There are only three entries received for the men’s sprint so far.
