Martelly reportedly expressed confidence that a proposal put to CARICOM would bear fruit as it relates to the future socio-economic development of Haiti.

The Haitian President who addressed the opening ceremony on Thursday night in his native French language said he had met with all the colleagues in CARICOM and was satisfied with all the discussion.

Martelly said he had an opportunity to talk with the former Jamaican prime minister PJ Patterson, who is the CARICOM Special Representative to Haiti and some great decisions have been taken.

He said one of the decisions taken is to organise a meeting for July 21 in Haiti to further explore developmental issues.
