Jamaica’s opening game in the limited-overs version of the TCL Group West Indies Under-19 tournament ended in a no-result because of rain in Barbados.

The Jamaicans, sent in to bat, scored 196 for five from their allocation of 34 overs in the rain-affected match at the Combermere School.

Horace Miller hammered a century to top scored for Jamaica. He scored 101. Andre Creary chipped in with 41.

Barbados were 61 for three off 30 overs when rain stopped play.

The Barbadians had completed a four-wicket victory over the Windward Islands yesterday to win their opening game.

Rain also affected the day’s other game, which ended in a no-result at the Yorkshire Sports Club.

Trinidad and Tobago, replying to the Leeward Islands 173 for six off 34.4 overs, reached 41 for three off 8.5 overs when the game was called off.

The Leeward Islands were hoping for a victory to stay in contention following a 76-runs defeat to Guyana yesterday.

Tomorrow is a rest day and the competition will continue on Friday with two games.
