Jamaica continue medal hunt today

Two Jamaicans will be competing for medals in the girls’ 400-metre final on today’s third day of the World Youth Championships in Lille, France.
Chris-Ann Gordon and Olivia James will try to increase Jamaica’s medal count, which stands at two gold and a silver.
Gordon enters the final with the fastest time after winning Heat 1 of the semi-finals in 52 point 7-9 seconds; while James qualified with a 53 point 5-1 clocking.
Earlier, high jumper Chanice Porter will compete in the girls’ high jump final scheduled to start at 9:30 in the morning Jamaica time.
Meanwhile, Simoya Campbell and Marleena Eubanks will compete in the semi-finals of the girls’ 800 metres. Campbell is down to run in Heat 2 of the semi-finals, while Eubanks will compete in Heat 3 of the semi-finals.
The final is set for Sunday’s final day of the championships.
