CIDA funded project to beneft Caribbean countries
ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Caribbean countries are to benefit from a seven year leadership project aimed at strengthening the public sector in the region.
The US$20.6 million project is aimed at strengthening leadership in the public sector and is being funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
The goal of this initiative is to build capacity among the next generation of Caribbean public sector leaders, to help them contribute more effectively to national and regional development goals.
The Caribbean Leadership Project will address the needs of Jamaica, Belize, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, the seven-member Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Guyana, and Suriname.
A team from the Canada School of Public Service has arrived here to begin a leadership learning needs assessment.
During their three day visit the delegation will meet Minister with responsibility for the Public Service, Harold Lovell as well as hold discussions with Ambassador Joan Underwood, Chief Implementation Officer; Konata Lee, Director of Public Sector Transformation; and other senior officials.
