Jamaica thrashes T&T in U-19 cricket

Jamaica scored an emphatic 10-wicket victory over Trinidad and Tobago at Everest today to secure a winning start to the West Indies Cricket Board Regional Under-19 Championships in Guyana.
Set 19 runs for victory after T&T were bowled out for 202 in their second innings, Jamaica got the required runs in two overs.
T&T had resumed today’s final day on 52-3 and Akeal Hosein was last man out for 98.
James McDonald was the most successful bowler for Jamaica in the second innings with 3-14, while Marquino Mindley and Donovan Nelson supported with two wickets each.
Final scores in the match:- Jamaica 320; T&T 136 and following-on 202.
Over at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence:- Guyana needed just an hour and 20 minutes on the final day to thrash Leeward Islands by an innings and 25 runs and make an emphatic start to their campaign.
Resuming the day needing just four wickets for victory with Leewards tottering on 112-6, Guyana’s bowlers wrapped up the visitors’ second innings for 183.
Final scores in that match: Leeward Islands 109 and 183; Guyana 317-9 declared.
Over at the Demerarra Cricket Club:- Barbados defeated reigning champions Windward Islands by 94 runs an hour and 23 minutes after tea. Final scores in the match:- Barbados 161 and 312; Windward Islands 148 and 230.
Round Two bowls off Friday.
