Jamaica places sixth in badminton competition

Hosts Jamaica had to settle for sixth place at the Ocean Spray Wata Junior Badminton Team Championships at the National Indoors Sports Centre after losing the fifth place playoff to Peru today.
Peru won the contest 3-2 after both teams had locked at 2-all going into the deciding game.
The Jamaican pair of Mikaylia Haldene and Katherine Wynter lost the deciding women’s doubles to Micaela Rivero and Luz Maria Zornoza 18-21, 21-9, 21-17.
Meanwhile, Brazil and Canada are now contesting the final, while United States and Guatemala are facing off in the third place playoff.
