Reggae Boyz beat D/Republic
Jamaica yesterday booked a place in the quarterfinals of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Youth Cup following a 1-0 victory over Dominican Republic at Fatima College in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Jamaicans, who only need a draw to advance, ended Group ‘E’ with maximum nine points.
Juvane Benjamin scored the lone goal in the 81st minute.
In the other Group ‘E’ game, Netherland Antilles and Antigua and Barbuda battled to a 2-2 draw.
Host country Trinidad and Tobago hammered Aruba 9-0 at the Marvin Lee Stadium in a Group ‘D’ to qualify for the quarterfinals.
The CFU Youth Cup is also the Caribbean Qualification to the 2009 CONCACAF Under-17 Championships.
The winner and runner-up from the CFU Youth Cup will progress to the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship that will take place in Mexico next year.
