Former world record holder Asafa Powell of Jamaica and American Tyson Gay will face off in the 100 metres at the British Grand Prix on August 31, just two weeks after their probable meeting in the Olympic final.
World champion Gay was down to race Powell at last month’s Grand Prix, but withdrew because of a hamstring problem.
Powell won the event in 9.94 seconds, his final race before the Olympics.
The men’s 100-metre final in Beijing is scheduled for August 16.
