Cricket: Windies Women 50 over tournament bowls off today

Jamaica, under the leadership of West Indies all-rounder Stafanie Taylor, will begin their campaign against reigning champions Trinidad and Tobago when the West Indies Cricket Board Women’s 50-over tournament opens today in Barbados.
Eight teams divided in two zones take part in the one-week competition, which concludes next Sunday with the Grand Final at Kensington Oval.
Jamaica will face stiff competition in Group ‘A’ where they will also play Guyana and Grenada
Group ‘B’ comprises last year’s runners-up St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Dominica and hosts Barbados.
The Jamaica, T&T clash will take place at The Brewery. In the other Group ‘A’ game, Guyana, led by West Indies Women’s star Shemaine Campbelle, will meet Grenada at the Desmond Haynes Oval.
In Group-B, hosts Barbados, led by West Indies fast-medium bowler Shakera Selman, will play St Vincent and the Grenadines, led by West Indies Women’s star Cordel Jack, at Kensington Oval, and St. Lucia tackle Dominica at the Pine Basin.
All matches start at 10 o’clock in the morning.
