Bolton recorded the biggest victory on today’s opening day of the Barclays Premier League season by whipping promoted side Queen’s Park Rangers 4-nil at Loftus Road.

Fellow promoted side Norwich enjoyed a better opening game after they drew 1-all at Wigan.

Over at St James’ Park, Gervinho was sent off on his Arsenal debut for slapping Joey Barton as Newcastle held the Gunners to a nil-all draw.

A second-half strike from Sunderland debutant Sebastian Larsson denied a new-look Liverpool victory as they were held to a 1-all draw at Anfield.

In other games, Wolves came from behind to snatch a 2-1 victory at Blackburn, Newcastle, while Fulham and Aston Villa also played to a goalless draw.
