Palestinian refugees flee camp in Latakia

Thousands of Palestinian refugees are said to be fleeing a camp in the Syrian port of Latakia which is reportedly being shelled by government troops.



According to a spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works agency, more than 5,000 of the 10,000 refugees were fleeing.



About 30 people have reportedly died in Latakia in a three-day military attack.



Meanwhile, Neighbouring Turkey has warned Damascus that military operations against protesters must stop immediately.



Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has hinted that if the operations do not stop, drastic steps would be taken.



More than 1,700 people have reportedly died and more than 30,000 detained in the six-month uprising against the rule of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
