T&T Government satisfied with police turn out
The Trinidad and Tobago Government has expressed satisfaction with yesterday’s turnout of police personnel at stations across the island despite a planned industrial action by cops.
The police and the Administration are at odds over an alleged five per cent cap on public sector wage negotiations.
No official figures have been released by either the Police Social and Welfare Association or the Public Affairs Unit of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service regarding the number of police stations affected by the action.
However, the Association’s secretary Michael Seals said he was encouraged by the support based on preliminary figures.
He said police stations in the south and in the capital had been affected by the action taken by the police.
In the meantime, the government has praised law enforcement officials who ignored calls for them to join the protest action.
It is urging union leaders representing the police to return to the bargaining table.
