Athletics: O’Dayne Richards mines gold for Jamaica at Games

O’Dayne Richards won Jamaica’s first medal at the World University Games in Shenzhen, China by taking the gold in the men’s shot put yesterday on the first day of track and field.



Richards, a student at University of Technology, won with a personal-best throw of 19.83 metres.



The silver medal went to Russian Soslan Tsyrikhov with a throw of 19.80 metres, while American Mason Finley took the bronze medal with a throw of 19.72 metres.
