Football: $30 million sponsorship deal for Premier League
The 2011-2012 National Premier League season will benefit from a $30 million co-sponsorship deal.
The league will be without a title sponsor compared to former years. However, three companies have committed 10 million dollars each towards shirt sponsorship.
The companies that are on board are the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited, Jamaica National and Supreme Ventures Limited, through its brand product Just Bet.
The Premier League Clubs Association, which runs the league, outlined the sponsorship deal this morning during the competiton’s launch at the Knutsford Hotel.
The announcement came a few months after telecommunications company Digicel decided not to renew its three-year deal which expired at the end of last season.
The company reported that it spent over 300 million dollars on the league over the duration of the contract.
The new season kicks off on Sunday with defending champions Tivoli Gardens hosting promoted Highgate at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.
Former champions Harbour View will have a home fixture against Arnett Gardens, while Waterhouse will host Humble Lions at Drewsland.
The other opening round matches are Boys Town against Sporting Central Academy at Collie Smith Drive, Portmore United playing Reno and Village United facing Montego Bay United, formerly Seba United.
