Jamaica’s National Open Surf Team is currently in preparation for the upcoming 2008 World Surfing Games to be held in Portugal in October.

Jamaica will be seeking to improve on its 25th place, which was achieved in 2006 in Hutington Beach in California.

However, the task will not be easy as the Jamaica Surfing Association will not be able to field a complete 13-member team to the Games.

The local association is considering sending a nine-member team to compete in four divisions.

Inilek Wilmot, Luke Williams, Icah Wilmot and Ackeam Phillips are expected to compete in the Open Men.

Elim Beckford and Danielle O’hayon will compete in the Open Women.

The remaining members of the team are Drum Drummond in the Men’s Long Board and Scot Murray and Daniel Chinyee in the Men’s Body Board.
