Digicel to sponsor Premier League
Telecommunication firm Digicel will take up the sponsorship of the National Premier League football competition for the next three years.
Edward Seaga, Chairman of the Premier League Clubs Association, confirmed the sponsorship yesterday.
The three-year deal is worth $148.95 million dollars, or $45 million dollars in one year. There will be a 10 per cent increase in year two and three.
Seaga says the proposal from Digicel was by far the best submitted.
The National Pemier League was without a sponsor since April 10, after the Premier League Clubs Association severed all times with Cash Plus Limited, the embattled investment company that a receiver declared bankrupt.
Seaga had negotiated a three-year $150 million sponsorship of the Premier League last September with Cash Plus.
The new season of the Premier League kicks off on August 31.
