Persistent rains associated with the passage of Tropical Storm Ophelia have resulted in widespread flooding in Dominica, with cars being washed away and many roads and bridges becoming impassable.
There has been no report of deaths.
Disaster officials said the floods have mainly affected communities on the island’s south coast.
In the west coast village of Layou, the river has overflowed its banks, washing away vehicles and causing damage to personal household items.
The small Canefield Airport on the outskirts of the capital has also been flooded out.
The authorities said no evacuation order has been issued despite the rains, which have been battering the island for the past three days.
