Barbados economy grows one per cent in first nine months

The Barbados economy grew by one per cent during the first nine months of the year.

However, the Central Bank is warning that the prospects of a full recovery from the economic recession have become more distant because of the weakened growth prospects for the United States, the United Kingdom and other advanced economies.

In a review of the island’s economic performance to date, the Central Bank of Barbados said that real output is estimated to have been one per cent higher than for the similar period last year.

The central bank noted that this is half the rate of growth projected at the start of the year.
