India beat West Indies in first Test

The West Indies suffered a five-wicket defeat to hosts India in the first Test in Delhi today to trail the three-match series 1-0.
The Caribbean side had enjoyed a 95-run first-innings lead but was dismissed for just 180 in their second innings yesterday.
Set 276 runs to win, India marched to the victory target with five wickets down on the fourth and penultimate day just after lunch. India were 152 for two overnight, needing a further 124 runs to win.
Senior batsman Vangipurappu Laxman scored the winning run, flicking teenager Kraigg Brathwaire to complete a single. He ended undefeated on 58.
Sachin Tendulkar top scored for India, but fell short of his milestone 100th international ton.
Tendulkar, who was 33 overnight, was trapped leg before wicket by leg spinner Devendra Bishoo for 76 with the score on 233 for 4.
Rahul Dravid 31 and Yuraj Singh 18 were the other batsmen dismissed today.
Skipper Darren Sammy ended as the most success bowler for the West Indies with two for 56 from 16 overs.
Pacer Fidel Edwards, Jamaican all-rounder Marlon Samuels and Bishoo finished with a wicket apiece.
Final scores in the match are West Indies 304 and 180, India 209 and 276 for five.
