CFU Congress still uncertain

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), says the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), has not set a new date for its Extraordinary Congress.



A release from the JFF yesterday said its body was advised by the CFU, that the Congress was postponed indefinitely for financial reason.



The JFF release was issued following news that the voting congress would go ahead on Sunday, November 20.



A few weeks ago, acting president of the CFU, Yves Jean Bart of Haiti advised his members that the body’s Extraordinary Congress scheduled for November 20 in Jamaica has been postponed.



However, Trinidadian Harold Taylor, one of the leading candidates to replace compatriot Austin ‘Jack’ Warner as president, circulated a letter to member associations urging them to convene the congress in Jamaica on November 20.



Taylor told member associations that a sponsor has agreed to fund the meeting.



The CFU has been thrown into a state of turmoil, following the resignations and suspensions of several high-profile members as part of the fallout from the cash-for-votes bribery scandal that erupted last May.



Bart was appointed to act following the recent disciplinary measures taken against Jamaica's Captain Horace Burrell.



Captain Burrell had assumed leadership of the body after the dismissal of Warner.



Captain Burrell was strongly expected to replace Warner, but had to withdraw from the race following his suspension by FIFA.
