Police uncovers plot to kill T&T PM
Trinidad and Tobago’s National Security adviser Gary Griffith has confirmed that law enforcement authorities have uncovered a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar and three senior government ministers.
Griffith said the National Security Minister Retired Brigadier John Sandy is expected to make a statement on the matter later today.
However, he said the plot was uncovered based on a confirmed threat to the nation’s security from individuals, who want the ongoing state of emergency to be seen as a failure.
He said law enforcement agencies are in full control of the situation.
The National security Advisor said threats were also made against Attorney General Anand Ramlogan and Foreign Affairs and Information Minister Suruj Rambachan.
He said security has been beefed up around the ministers.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say at least 10 people have been detained by police for questioning.
