The Central Statistical Office in Trinidad and Tobago is reporting a slight decrease in the rate of unemployment in the country.
It said the rate of unemployment dropped from 6.3 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2010 to 5.8 per cent in the second quarter of this year.
The central statistical office also reports that the type of workers who lost their jobs over the period came mainly from the Government Public Service/Statutory Board employees, state enterprise and non-government sectors.
Meanwhile, opposition legislators have been accusing the government of hiding the true extent of the unemployment situation in the country.
