Pilots to elect new Chairman

The Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association says it will meet on February 1 to elect a new chairman.

The announcement comes nearly two months after Captain Michael Blackburn resigned as Chairman.

Blackburn resigned as chairman, soon after he was dismissed by LIAT on December 5, last year based on public comments he made about the safety of the airline.

In a memo, circulated to all pilots affiliated with LIAT Airline, the secretary of the association, Captain Patterson Thompson, sought to reassure his colleagues that the union would be persistent in fixing the situation.
