Former WI batsman Runako Morton dies in car crash

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) — Former West Indies batsman Runako Morton has died in a car crash after colliding with a pole next to a Trinidad highway, police said Monday.
He was 33.
Morton was driving home alone on his way back from a club cricket match on Sunday night when the accident occurred on the Solomon Hochoy Highway in central Trinidad.
Morton represented West Indies in 15 tests, 56 one-day internationals and seven 20/20 matches from 2002 to 2010.
He scored 573 test runs at an average of 22.03 with four half-centuries, and 1,519 ODI runs at an average of 33.75 with 210 fifties.
The West Indies Cricket Board wrote on Twitter to express "our deepest condolences to Runako Morton's family. Such devastating and tragic news."
From the tiny island of Nevis, Morton represented the Leeward Islands in regional cricket but later turned out for Trinidad & Tobago, after marrying a Trinidadian and migrating to that country.
Morton's last first-class game was nearly a year ago when he played for Trinidad & Tobago against Leeward Islands.
